Dear 2123,

An ‘anti- time capsule’ for 2123 presenting the fleeting and ephemeral nature of ‘nowness’.
Objects formed with analogue processes, enclosed in degradable material.
During this inter-platform collaborative project, we were asked to define our ‘nowness’ of 2023 to an audience of 2123. The speculative nature meant we had to predict the world and its inhabitants in 100 years time, form and design a clear message for them.
In response, we meet our brief by walking towards the opposite end; an anti-time capsule- one where preservation is not a priority. We convey our current personal lack of nowness as an antidote for future audiences to learn from. In the hopes they can ground themselves and not feel so lost in their unique reality.

For my object, I created a dice, forming a relationship between the face of a cube and its content. I explore the visual language of dots to create imagery that link to the concept of the poem.
Each poem uses my typewriter to typographically manipulate words, break linear structure and form images. The poetry was a way to intimately connect with anyone feeling similar emotions and creating space for contemplation.
